Working with us...

If you're going to be working with us as a sub-contractor, you will be required to do the following;

    1. Be registered with HMRC as self employed or as a Limited Company, AND for CIS.
      Please see the document below for more info. Follow the steps and provide us with the required information ASAP. Please email this information to: louise@thehertfordshirekitchencompany.co.uk

    2. Payments will only be made upon production of an invoice calculated at the agreed rate(s). Payment terms are negotiated with individuals/companies on a case-by-case basis, but generally;
      - Companies - Payment by invoice for job
      - Individuals - Payment by invoice for hours worked
      - Invoices should be submitted at the end of the job/month as appropriate.
      - we only pay for hours worked - we do not pay for lost/cancelled/postponed/sickness or holiday days

    3. THKC will pay invoices within a week following submission and our CIS payments are made when requested by our accountant and/or HMRC.

    4. Health & Safety;
      - You must be aware of, and adhere to your duties and responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act
      - You shall provide your own suitable workwear/PPE unless specifically advised by us that it will be provided for a particular purpose.
      - For those undertaking regular work, branded polo shirts will be provided.
      - Where a Risk Assessment, method statement, schedule of works etc are available, it/they will be emailed to you before works commence. You are required to adhere to any measures that are implemented as an outcome of our risk assessment.

    5. You will be expected to have a basic selection of tools to assist with the work planned. These should include:
      - Accurate tape measure
      - Hand tools - Hammer/screwdrivers/pliers/knife/wrecking bar etc.
      - Cordless drill/driver and bits
      - Hop-up or small stepladder

      Specialist tools will be provided where necessary.

      We take no responsibility for the loss/damage of tools used and/or stored on-site.

    6. No reimbursements will be made for travelling or subsistence.

    7. On occasion, work will be need to be moved/postponed at short notice due to issues beyond our control. This is unfortunate and all the sub-contractors working with us at the moment are to understand that there may be a last minute cancellation and/or change of dates. We try to minimise this as much as possible but its sometimes unavoidable. These days may be used to complete work needed at either of the showrooms/storage etc but this is not guaranteed.
